Jenny James is missing. After two weeks missing the police are at a stand still and have little clues and resources to pursue the case any further. Hank the detective on the case recommends her mother Amelia hire his friends who are private detectives. Enter Jake and Annie James. They take on the case and ferret out the clues to solve the mystery.
We know from almost the beginning who the bad guy is. Rayven weaves the story as to how his psyche came to the point of murder and kidnapping. As more people turn up dead the police start putting the pieces together. The books is well written and the story well told. My only issue was the date and time stamps at the beginning of each chapter. I found it a bit distracting trying to follow all of that. I like that we get a glimpse into the private lives of Jake, Annie and Hank. There is even a budding romance.
At one point in the book I got just a little bit spooked. Turns out the bad guys name is Annette, the heroine of the story is Annie ( my husband calls me Annie) and the original crime was committed on August 2nd. That just happens to be my birthday.
Overall I would recommend this book and would like to read the rest of the books in the series.
